Powerful Bible Verses That Will Help You Overcome Depression

Depression is a very common mental health issue in current times. If you are constantly driven by negative thoughts; if you keep finding yourself wanting to sleep to avoid the torment of being awake; if you prefer to stay at home rather than going out with friends and if you have a loss of appetite and have lost interest in caring for your personal appearance hygiene, I will give you an honest and straightforward answer: you are most likely depressed. 

However, don’t panic; this is a very common condition and as per experts, therapy and medication can do wonders in alleviating this mental/emotional suffering. But, if you are a Christian, you can seek refuge in God’s promises.

From Deuteronomy 31: 6/8:

From Deuteronomy 31: 6/8“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you…The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

From Philippians 4: 4-8:

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

From Psalm 34: 8/15/17-20/22:

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him…The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry…The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken…The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.”

From Isaiah 41: 8-10:

“But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
